April 8, 2020Craig Oliver

Rebecca Henning, Licensed and Oncology Certified Lead Aesthetician at Aspira Spa, at The Osthoff Resort was kind enough to share her at home anti-cellulite Scrub.

Spa At Home, Anti-Cellulite‎ Scrub

Ingredients:

  • Coffee‎ grounds‎ preferably‎ dried‎ if‎ making‎ this‎ mix‎ for‎ future‎ use‎ to‎ prevent‎ mold.‎ The‎ coffee‎ grounds‎ will‎ provide‎ a‎ physical‎ exfoliation‎ as‎ well‎ as‎ being‎ a‎ vasodilator‎ to‎ help‎ tighten‎ and‎ tone‎ the‎ skin‎ (temporary)
  • White‎ or‎ brown‎ sugar‎ both‎ work‎ equally‎ as‎ well,‎ I‎ prefer‎ brown‎ for‎ the‎ texture.‎ The‎ sugars‎ will‎ act‎ as‎ a‎ chemical‎ exfoliation‎ to‎ help‎ soften‎ the‎ skin.
  • Olive‎ or‎ coconut‎ oil‎ again‎ both‎ work‎ equally‎ well‎. I‎ do‎ prefer‎ the‎ coconut‎ for‎ anti-aging‎ and‎ for‎ softening‎ stretch‎ marks.‎ Also‎ I‎ prefer‎ to‎ smell‎ beachy‎ rather‎ than‎ like‎ a‎ salad!
  • Vitamin‎ E‎ (optional)‎ is‎ one‎ of‎ those‎ powerhouse‎ vitamins‎ that‎ are‎ great‎ for‎ everything‎ from‎ anti-aging‎ to‎ coronary‎ health.‎ Here‎ its‎ greatest‎ benefit‎ will‎ be‎ the‎ antioxidant‎ properties‎ as‎ well‎ as‎ anti‎-inflammatory‎ and‎ prevention‎ of‎ cell‎ damage‎ which‎ leads‎ to‎ aging.‎ You‎ can‎ use‎ the‎ vitamin‎ capsules‎ they‎ work‎ just‎ fine.‎ Simply‎ take‎ a‎ sanitized‎ pin‎ and‎ puncture‎ the‎ capsule‎ and‎ squeeze‎ the‎ oil‎ into‎ the‎ mix.‎ Depending‎ on‎ how‎ much‎ you‎ are‎ making‎ you‎ may‎ need‎ to‎ use‎ several.‎
  • Ground‎ cayenne‎ or‎ hot‎ paprika‎ (optional)‎ If‎ you‎ can‎ stand‎ a‎ bit‎ of‎ spice‎ and‎ heat‎ on‎ your‎ skin‎ using‎ one‎ of‎ these‎ will‎ help‎ boost‎ circulation‎ and‎ flush‎ toxins‎ and‎ lymph‎ fluid‎ from‎ the‎ cellulite‎ pockets.‎ Also‎ great‎ for‎ reducing‎ the‎ appearance‎ of‎ spider‎ veins‎ or‎ the‎ tiny‎ capillaries‎ you‎ see‎ often‎ in‎ areas‎ of‎ cellulite‎ *Juice‎ from‎ half‎ a‎ lemon‎ (optional)‎ Lemon‎ helps‎ to‎ lighten‎ and‎ brighten‎ the‎ skin‎ naturally.‎ Also,‎ the‎ scent‎ is‎ a‎ proven‎ mood‎ uplifted‎ and‎ who‎ couldn’t‎ use‎ that‎ right‎ now?

Instructions:

I‎ personally‎ do‎ not‎ measure‎ any‎ of‎ the‎ ingredients,‎ it‎ doesn’t‎ have‎ to‎ be‎ a‎ perfect‎ balance.‎ If‎ you‎ like‎ more‎ of‎ a‎ gritty‎ scrub‎, add‎ more‎ of‎ the‎ grounds‎ and‎ sugar‎ and less oils and vice versa.  Simply put all your ingredients in a glass bowl and mix it together into a paste.  Apply to the areas you wish to treat (this is great for the upper arms as well!) and scrub vigorously upwards.  Once this is complete you can either wrap the area in plastic wrap and relax for 20-30 minutes or proceed to the shower.  Make sure to clean the bottom of the shower well after using it, as the oils will leave a slippery film.

If you are making a larger quantity to use in the future, store in an airtight container in your refrigerator.  Use a spoon to scoop the product out of the jar as to not introduce bacteria from your hands.  By doing this, the product should have a life of several weeks.  Another great way to preserve for future use is to scoop the product into ice cube trays or muffin tins and freeze solid. Once the cubes are frozen, they can be popped out and placed in a freezer bag.  Take one cube out and thaw before use.
