However, after stepping onto the second floor and up to the spa, I was immediately lifted from the hustle, and I was about to be transported into another world. I was greeted by the lovely Andrea Durham, spa director at the Miraj Hammam Spa. For the love of smooth skin, I was excited to receive the spa’s signature treatment, the Hammam, Gommage & Rhassoul Clay Body Masque.

I was able to unwind in the relaxation room before my treatment with soothing Moroccan mint tea. Yum!  Intoxicating music played throughout the spa as Melissa, my esthetician, led me to the (women only) private steam room, which was gorgeously decorated, as if I were in Europe.  Melissa used high-intensity steam for 15 minutes to prepare my body for the Hammam, Gommage & Rhassoul ritual. She scrubbed my body using eucalyptus-infused black Moroccan soap. I was exfoliated from head to toe. After a cool rinse, Melissa used a stimulating mineral-rich clay rhassoul masque, and in 10 minutes my skin was smooth and detoxed. I didn’t have to leave the steam room where the treatment is given. I could just relax and melt away all stress. It was much needed! My skin was glowing afterward, and I felt like I was floating as I walked out of the steam room and back to the relaxation lounge where I sipped more Moroccan mint tea.

My body, mind and spirit were nourished and totally relaxed. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and Melissa suggested getting the treatment once a month to maintain super glowing skin. Many clients visit the spa to warm up from the Canadian cold weather, so this treatment is booked a month in advance, especially in the winter months. If you’re Canadian, you know how cold winter can be!

I would highly recommend the Hammam, Gommage & Rhassoul treatment to anyone who wants to experience a totally secluded, invigorating spa haven without having to leave the city
