Dessert For The Skin ~ Spa Olakino, Waikiki

Dessert For The Skin ~ Spa Olakino, Waikiki

Having visited the Spa Olakino at the Marriot Hotel on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu on an earlier trip, I was ecstatic to learn I would be assigned the task of reviewing the spa and their newest treatment the ‘Chocolate Macadamia Nut Scrub’.  Although, after spending seven days in the sun I was concerned my hard earned tan would disappear!

Spa Olakino hovers over Waikiki Beach.  The resting lounge is situated to take in the full view of the lagoon, Pacific Ocean and the Duke Kahanamoku statue. Yet busy Kalakaua Avenue below is conveniently out of sight.  The spa is naturally Hawaiian influenced, and immerses each guest in an authentic experience.

The treatment was both invigorating and mouth watering.  Each limb was scrubbed with the delicious concoction then gently rinsed off while lying on the special bed which drained the water away. Not more than five minutes into the experience and I was no longer worried about my tan; instead I was optimistic knowing that seven days of sunscreen, lotion and salt and chlorinated water was being gently removed.  The treatment ended with a wonderful steam shower (I had to stand up for that).

Five days later, after flying home to the mainland, my tan is still gorgeous. My skin has not flaked or peeled anywhere.  I think the treatment is a wise investment in post vacation envy!
