A Sedona State of Mind ~ L'Auberge de Sedona
While the spa is a compact four treatment room facility, including two couples rooms, the spa menu has the breadth you'd expect at a much bigger property, with a wide variety of massages, facials and body treatments. The Spa at L'Auberge captures the unique aura of Sedona with offerings like Energy Healing Work, Holistic Massage and the opportunity to have many massage services performed along the banks of the soothing Oak Creek, which flows through the property.
Like the rest of the luxurious property, which recently received a $25 million renovation, the spa is understated, with an emphasis on service and quality. In addition to the steam room in the locker room, just outside is a new heated saltwater pool and hot tub. The warm water soothes the body and the views of the red rocks calm the mind.
Inside I relax in the lounge, enjoying a cup of hot chai tea before my therapist Megan comes to collect me for my 90-minute Lavender Dreams Ultimate Experience.
As a type A personality, whose under added stress these days, the treatment caught my eye because the first word in its description is : Relax. Something I clearly needed to do.
Using Kerstin Florian products, the service starts with a Turkish eucalyptus salt scrub and exfoliation with a loofah pad. A light massage using Lavender oil followed the exfoliation. My favorite part of the treatment was the facial acupressure Megan performed while I was cocooned in the wrap. This was the most relaxing part of the service.
An added touch I've never experienced at any spa was a water-filled pillow (almost like a large old-fashioned hot water bottle) underneath my shoulders and neck on the table. It gave the sensation of weightlessness and being lulled by waves. I liked it so much, I had Megan found out the brand so I could recreate some of the feelings of the treatment at home. Not that I wanted to leave.
