Breathe Deep ~ eforea: spa at Hilton, Hilton Sedona
“Your job is to breathe!” It’s amazing how a few choice words can really put you in your place. In the meditative silence of the eforea: spa at Hilton, Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa my massage therapist Tracy’s marching orders stick with me. With my head down in the massage table cradle, we embark on eforea’s signature men’s Three-Part Recharging Massage, billed as the ultimate de-stress treatment.

eforea: spa at Hilton is the first global spa concept from Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and the Men’s Journey section of the spa menu was created in tandem with Australia’s VitaMan product line — a refreshing series of products utilizing native plant extracts that offer genuine natural solutions for men. VitaMan does not use harmful chemicals, artificial colors or fragrances. Tracy used the Desert Muscle Rub on me which included the intoxicating ingredients of Emu Oil, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Wintergreen and Eucalyptus -- heaven!

Warm bamboo rolls away tension

This was my first trip to the stunning country of Sedona, Arizona. Knowing I had an afternoon visit to the spa, I had ventured out earlier in the day to take in the region’s mesmerizing scenery. I settled on the Courthouse Butte Loop, a five-mile hike that I was able to walk to from the centrally located Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa in Oak Creek. I was traveling solo, but the friendliest of both locals and visitors ensured that I never felt on my own. Total walk and hike—two hours.

Now back at the spa, my hike is a distant memory as Tracy continues to work on me. I experience the effects of warm bamboo releasing my tight muscles as it is slowly and firmly rolled over my back and legs. This head-to-toe relaxation treatment provides immediate results. As relaxing and rewarding as the treatment was, I was even more impressed with my therapist, who offered me a glass of water as I turned over. Why doesn’t everyone do this?

Since I had already spent a week in the Southwest, my skin was dry, and hiking in the Sedona’s dry air didn’t help my hydration. My massage continued, with Tracy focusing on my arms, legs and—one of my favorites—the pectorals, which support so much of the upper body. With the combination of great technique and refreshing product, I admit, I loved it. My massage concluded with a scalp massage, another of my favorites.

Best practices from far and wide

eforea perfectly complements the property’s existing facilities: a modern cardio/weight room, dance/workout studio with classes throughout the week, and on the men’s side, a very welcoming Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Bring your swimsuit and take in the stunning 80-foot outdoor swimming pool overlooking Sedona’s Red Rocks mountain range. Staff are a secret ingredient to any spa operation, and everyone at eforea: spa at Hilton Hilton Sedona was first-class: warm, friendly and very professional.

The Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa is the second location for eforea in the United States, following the concept’s launch at Hilton Short Hills in New Jersey. Hilton has drawn from the best elements and practices from Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, and the Americas to create this unique spa concept with universal standards for today’s savvy global travelers. The continued rollout of eforea: spa at Hilton around the world will be an attractive offering to Spa & Wellness customers around the world. Other current eforea locations include Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Azerbaijan and forthcoming locations will be in China and Qatar.
