Desert Oasis ~ Agave, The Arizona Spa
The latest in anti-aging skin care
Facials are my favorite treatments to try while traveling. Besides reviving tired and dehydrated skin, a facial allows one to check out the latest trends in anti-aging skin care. With this in mind, I booked the Opulence Brightening Infusion, which incorporates a serum from the Australian-based Intraceuticals line.
According to the spa brochure, oxygen infusion is a “revolutionary skincare treatment [that] simultaneously infuses moisture, vitamins and antioxidants into the skin via cooling, calming topical hyperbaric oxygen.” The specially formulated serum is rapidly absorbed, and the treatment immediately plumps and hydrates the surface of the skin
I found this cooling treatment to be a welcome respite from the summer heat. The treatment almost solely focuses on the oxygen/serum delivery, and I saw immediate results after my service and throughout the rest of my stay. A series of six sessions is recommended for maximum results.
Exclusive therapies, ancient treatments
The Agave spa has an expansive list of programs and activities, rivaling many destination spas. Starting soon is a healthy cooking class taught in partnership with the Scottsdale Whole Foods market. The treatment menu also showcases exclusive services developed by its own therapists.
One of these is Rollerssage, which combines massage, heat and energy. Custom-shaped stone spheres are fitted into an ergonomically designed massage tool that evenly and more directly applies pressure to the body. Both therapist and guest benefit from the heavier weight of the stone spheres, which results in deeper effects to the muscle groups without increased stress on the therapist’s hands.
Agave also specializes in ancient treatments infused with the essence of the Far East. Most travelers are looking for more than relaxation with their spa experience; they want treatments with long-lasting results. Agave’s expansive massage program answers this need with treatments that connect wellness of mind and body.
Treatments are performed by a specialist nationally certified in acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage. They include Tui Na, an energy rebalancing massage treatment that works muscles, bones and joints. The balancing of energy is healing as well as preventative, helping to maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being. The Wellness Massage is designed to support and nourish internal organs and the immune system.
The Westin Kierland and the Agave Spa are a real haven for relaxation, rejuvenation and fun. One of my favorites!
